Saint Cuthbert’s College Kahunui

Bay of Plenty

Saint Cuthbert’s College operates an external campus in the Urewera Forest, working closely with neighbouring valley communities, including the local iwi, who were actively involved in the project through a consultation role. The campus hosts all Year 10 students for a three‑week programme where they live in communal accommodation, prepare their own meals, and immerse themselves in the natural environment.

This project involved the construction of a new building to welcome incoming cohorts and provide additional teaching spaces. Its remote location presented significant logistical challenges, including difficult material delivery, limited subcontractor availability, and several flood events that temporarily closed the only access road into the village. Despite these obstacles, the team completed the project in time for the first incoming class of 2026, resulting in a very satisfied client.
